Tracee Ellis Ross’ Pattern Beauty brand has just launched their first heat tool, the Pattern Blow Dryer ($189) — a device created “for curl conscious and textured” consumers, Ross said in a press release. Pattern also launched a Heat Protectant (a lightweight spray that safeguards strands) and Shine Spray (a ultra-lightweight Shine Spray to leave curls luminous & radiant) both $20 but the star of the show is the Pattern Blow Dryer.

As a naturally curly hair gal, I have a complicated relationship with heat and hot tools in generally. Heat is one thing I am weary of on my curls. I rarely ever use heat on my curls as I tend to allow my hair to airdry after each wash. Even diffusing is a rarity with my curls as many blow dryers get too hot, have annoying heat sensitivity buttons, or came with way too many attachments that I didn’t know what to do with them. With that being said, I’ve actually been thinking of investing in a good diffuser recently as I have super fine hair that literally has no volume to it. With the promises of this new blow dryer from Pattern Beauty and of course, have you seen how gorgeous and voluminous Tracee Ellis Ross’ hair is? I know I need this blow dryer for my curls.

For her inspiration for the tool, which she said took about two years to develop, she told the following to People:

“Like all of us, I have a relationship with heat that started off as not a good one for my curl pattern, whether it was the physical pain of heat or the emotional pain of losing my curl pattern.”

“But when I started to nurse my hair back to health, heat was actually part of the process. Using heat safely so it wasn’t damaging and so it allowed me to wear different styles that weren’t dependent on my curl pattern was incredibly important.”

With 4 unique attachments (a diffuser, concentrator nozzle, wide-tooth comb, and brush), to help shape, stretch, smooth, and define, experience the freedom & versatility of styling with the high-performing PATTERN Blow Dryer designed for curlies, coilies and tight-textures. Equipped with a powerful AC motor that reduces dry time, & an ion generator to smooth the cuticle.
