In my early twenties, I would never imagine putting any kind of oils on my face because it was a greasy mess and very acne prone. Now in my thirties, my skin has changed quite a lot. Though I still have an oily T-zone (not too crazy anymore), my skin leans more on the combination/dry side, not acne prone anymore but with the occasional breakouts. With the change of my skin, I was getting dry around my nose (peeling and flaking) and my skin was dull and lackluster, especially more so during the colder months. I did some research and it wasn’t until I started reading reviews on the benefits of facial oils that I dared to try a skincare oil for myself. So it’s no secret I love facial oils.
Why do I use a facial oil? Simple, for the Hydration. Because if skin is lacking hydration then it becomes dry, crack, and very dull looking. Generally, facial oils provide an extra boost of hydration than your regular moisturizer, making them very good for winter days when it is cold and your skin is flaking. Face oils are usually natural products, so they also nourish your skin with antioxidants and fight free radicals. They plump skin and can even benefit acne-prone skin. It is important to recognize that not all facial oils are the same. Some can nourish the skin, while others can be potential irritants so choose wisely! Fortunately, beauty brands are creating more sophisticated elixirs tailored to different complexion concerns. You have to figure out which face oil is right for your skin, and start slowly with just a drop or two. I have been rotating these facial oils in my skincare routine for a while now and have noticed that it has made a vast improvement in my skin in terms of hydration.
I generally use facial oils at night but on days when I’m not going anywhere and I know I’m going to be home all day, I like using Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate because it is quite light, not greasy and gives that extra boost of hydration. With antioxidant-rich ginger root, tamanu and sunflower-seed oils to soften rough patches and illuminate your tone, this concentrate helps to visibly correct the signs of daily skin fatigue, improving the look of dullness, lines, and rough texture. It helps skin feel energized and look radiant.
NUDE Skincare ProGenius Treatment Oil
This ProGenius Oil contains a blend of oils that are very high in omega 3, 6, 7 & 9. These essential fatty acids have many skincare benefits as they boost lipid content and repair the skin’s barrier function, improve moisture levels, improve elasticity and softness and can really help with skin conditions like eczema. This oil takes a few minutes to fully sink in, but once it does, it leaves skin really soft. It does a fantastic job of hydrating the skin leaving it feeling plump, fresh and glowing. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse
Although this is a multipurpose oil that can be used on the face, I love using this one specifically as a body oil after the shower. It has a strong scent and although my skin doesn’t react to it, I do not use it on my face. It is light, easy to apply and absorbs very well into the skin without leaving a thick greasy layer. I have a review here.
