YSL BEAUTY TATOUAGE COUTURE VELVET CREAM LIQUID LIPSTICK

YSL BEAUTY TATOUAGE COUTURE VELVET CREAM LIQUID LIPSTICK

I’ve been testing the new YSL Beauty Tatouage Couture Velvet Cream Liquid Lipstick (CAD $49 / US $37), an ultra-pigmented matte lip stain that covers your lips with rich, creamy, velvet color that lasts all day.

This lipstick includes 12 shades, with strong shades and premium matte finishes. It continues the brand’s consistent high-quality formula that lasts all day and covers plump, creamy, velvety colors for your lips.

I have 4 of the 12 shades:

  • 209 – Anti-Social Prune – plum
  • 213 – Accomplice – pink
  • 214 – Alliance – beige
  • 216 – Nude Emblem – rosewood nude

These liquid lipsticks deliver high-impact color with an ultra-comfortable, creamy, soft wear thanks to its non-drying, velvet-matte formula. It features the iconic Tatouage Couture applicator with a wider and fuller surface, offering full-coverage and high-precision application in one stroke.

YSL Beauty combined soft elastomers, a matte formula, and an emollient oil cream base. We know that some matte lipsticks can be quite thick and drying but not the case with these. Global Beauty Director for YSL Beauty, Tom Pecheux says… “What we wanted to do with Tatouage Couture Velvet Cream was to create something that meets the needs and desires of those women who want high coverage, but also desire a comfortable texture on the lips, a lipstick in other words that is lovely to wear, and not too thick and heavy.” And I must agree that he achieved that desired goal.

I love the texture of these. They go on very easily, stays smooth and doesn’t dry out the lips at all. They’re so creamy and different from other matte lipsticks I’ve tried. They stay nicely on the lips, has long wearing power and doesn’t smudge easily after application. They’re super comfortable to wear. It stays a little wet looking after application but I actually like that supple look. It transfers a little bit but that doesn’t bother me. As soon as you eat or drink at all though, it’s gone and depending on the shade, it leaves a pretty stain behind on the lips. I honestly didn’t have any bleeding issues with these but that could be the colors I have which are very wearable and forgiving.

If you’re looking at the photos and think they all look identical, I’m with you. They have a frosted clear exterior which kinda mutes the color. Three of the four shades I have are nudes/pinks and in the tubes, they look almost the same, but they are indeed different once you swatch them as you can see from the photo below.YSL BEAUTY TATOUAGE COUTURE VELVET CREAM LIQUID LIPSTICK
