Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer

Everything about YSL speaks luxury. From their lipstick packaging to their foundations, they have some of the pretties packaging and a girl can get excited just over packaging alone. Their Touche Éclat Blur Primer has been on the market for a little bit now and I am just getting around to trying this awesomeness. The Touche Éclat Blur Primer is enriched with four nourishing oils—corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil—to leave skin feeling incredibly soft without a greasy residue. Packed with blur technology, this universal primer is supposed to provide a subtle, golden shimmer for ultimate luminosity so your skin feels incredibly soft and velvety without that greasy residue.

This is a clear silicone based primer, with tiny gold particles suspended in it but the sparkles are undetectable when the product is on the face, as the shimmer disperses quite evenly all over the face and it actually transforms into more of subtle glow. I was presently surprised how subtle the golden shimmers were. This light-infused gel-like primer blurs pores and fine lines, and helps your makeup last longer. I personally wouldn’t say it even-out my skin’s texture but it does make my skin feel smooth making foundation application very easy. I personally love the tiny golden shimmer which adds a soft healthy glow to the skin in a very subtle way. I find that the primer is lightweight and was also moisturizing in that it didn’t make my skin feel dry and tight. Keep in mind that silicone primers are one of those products that either work well with your skin, or they don’t.

As you can see in the pic below, I’ve rubbed the product on the back of my hand and it is not greasy or sparkly at all. You can hardly see any of the particles, and you can only catch some of them in the right light. These were taken in sunlight.

Now I know that not everyone will like the gold shimmer particles (but all the more reasons I wanted to try it…Haha) especially if you have oily skin and honestly I wouldn’t know how well it would work for oily skin because I have combination/dry skin (dry around my nose and chin). However, I recommend getting a sample and trying it out first especially if you are on the oily spectrum. I love anything that will give me a glow and this did not disappoint nor did it cling to the dry areas of my face. I like that they put nourishing oils in it which leaves your skin feeling really soft and smooth. It feels like it would make your face greasy but it doesn’t, it’s more of a silky texture that spreads easily. One pump on the back of my hand is enough for a full face application. It does have a slight scent but it doesn’t linger on the skin so it’s not a total nuisance.

Overall, I think the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer is a very nice primer that feels super luxurious and stands out from some of the other primers in my stash; but do you need it, no. However, if you’re looking to invest in a new primer or if you’re a lover of high-end base products, this is worth a try! You can find it at Sephora for CAD $55.00 / US $52.00.

What do you think of the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks loves 🙂
