8 Makeup Tricks to Make Your Mornings Easier

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s not uncommon to find ourselves in a rush trying to get ready in the shortest amount of time possible. Rushing to get ready can be stressful, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your flawless makeup routine.

Whether you’re running late for work, a lunch date, or an evening event, various makeup hacks can help you get ready quickly and efficiently. Here are some makeup tricks to make that morning just a little easier as finding those precious minutes to apply makeup amid the chaos can seem practically impossible.

  1. Start with a good skincare routine.

A good skincare routine is essential for getting a quick and easy makeup look. It turns out that getting your skin through the day is all about the prep and the products. The morning is a time to refresh, gently cleanse, and prepare skin to protect and proactively fight off environmental factors, not to aggravate or be overly treated with aggressive actives. When your skin is healthy and hydrated, makeup will apply more smoothly and last longer. After washing your face with just water (I skip the cleanser in the mornings) or a gentle cleanser, apply a toner to remove any excess oil or dirt and then moisturize your face with a hydrating serum and moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. Always use a sunscreen with at least SPF50. It’s very important to make SPF a staple in your morning routine to help prevent sun damage, wrinkles, and even skin cancer.

  1. Skip foundation and use multi-purpose products.

Multi-purpose products are a great way to save time on your makeup routine. A tinted moisturizer can double as a foundation and concealer. A cream bronzer can be used as a blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow. There is also the lip and cheek product that can create a cohesive look by using the same colors on both the cheeks and the lips. This approach makes you look put-together without the need to figure out which colors from a huge palette go well together. The versatility of makeup products allows you to use them for multiple purposes. Another favorite hack of mine is using bronzer and highlighter for various tasks as well. Bronzer can be applied all over the face using a fluff brush to add an instant flush of color, causing the skin to look more awake than how you actually might feel. You can even quickly apply bronzer slightly underneath the cheekbones for some light contouring action.

  1. Be clever with your Concealer.

In a rush but still want some coverage? Concealer can actually cover up a lot, and it’s a much quicker option. It can also double as a foundation as well and it’s perfect for covering up any redness or dark circles around the eyes. A really good concealer can also cover up blemishes in a quick dab-and-blend operation; but also, to highlight your T-zone.  It’s about choosing a good quality product that offers excellent coverage and matches your skin tone.

  1. Tend to your brows.

Groomed eyebrows help frame your face and can significantly impact your overall makeup look. A quick shaping and filling can take you from feeling ‘meh’ to ‘marvellous’ in an instant. Use a brow pencil or even a tinted or clear brow gel to quickly define your brows.

  1. The eyeshadow bronzer trick.

If you want to apply an eye shadow, a neutral matte eyeshadow can add a quick wash of colour on your lids to give a polished look without complex blending. Another tip, after applying bronzer to my face, I use the same product as eyeshadow. If the bronzer works for your face, it’ll work perfectly for your eyelids too. It’s practically foolproof. The eyeshadow doesn’t look heavy, but it makes a noticeable difference.

  1. Mascara.

Never skip mascara. Applying a coat of mascara can help open your eyes. Even if it is the only thing you put on in the morning, it can help make your eyes pop and look awake.

  1. Nude eyeliner.

Nude eyeliner is a coveted makeup trick to make your eyes appear wider and brighter.

  1. Use a tinted lip balm or lip gloss.

Don’t spend time on precise lip products, use a tinted lip balm or gloss to add a touch of colour without needing to spend time being precise. Lip gloss can help to make your lips look fuller and more youthful by adding a bit of color and shine. It also helps to enhance your natural features without looking too over-the-top.

Optional: Set with translucent powder.

For you girls with oily / combination skin, you’ll want to set your makeup so sweep some powder over your oily areas if you need it.
