An Ode To The Ultimate Face Primer

I’ve been on the biggest primer kick as of late and this one from Marc Jacobs does not disappoint! So one of my recent purchases from Sephora was the Coconut Face Primer called the Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer and for the past few weeks I’ve been testing this out!

The Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer is a skin smoothing, makeup extending primer infused with five types of coconut to nourish and hydrate the complexion (who knew they were so many different types of coconuts?). The primer comes in a sleek luxurious frosted, glass bottle with a pump dispenser. Not the best for travelling, but looks gorgeous sitting on your vanity.

It has a thin runny consistency that blends into the skin easily. It feels lightweight and when applied to the face it feels very nourishing and hydrating and feels like you’re applying a lotion moisturizer. It gives a nice subtle glowy finish that doesn’t look or feel oily (maybe because I’m on the drier side). I like that it absorbs into my skin quickly and leaves my skin feeling very soft without leaving any white cast. This is a truly remarkable product that lets your skin breathe, creates a smooth canvas for makeup and helps extend the wear time. Although it doesn’t say anything about minimizing pores, I can’t say it fills them in completely. This primer does have a light coconut scent but not overwhelming at all. This is great for dry or combination skin that doesn’t like silicone type primers. It is wonderful for hydrating, feels very refreshing and smoothing to the skin. I found the best way to apply this is with fingers. I’ve tried this primer with a few different foundations and it has worked very well with all of them.

Overall, I’m very happy with it and it has improved the way my foundation looks; however, I do see this running out fairly quickly and it’s a bit pricey at CAD $55.00 / US $44.00. But if you love using primers and you’re looking for a hydrating primer that feels lightweight and helps with extending makeup wear, then in my opinion, this is totally worth a look at!

What is your favorite primer?
