HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4

HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 palette is the newest holiday release from the brand. This is limited-edition and comes in a metallic lavender pink packaging. I recently reviewed the Ambient Lighting Edit Palette Unlocked Edition here so today I’m going to do a little comparison between the two.  Both palettes have 6 powders with a luminous feel, but the Unlocked palette has all new shades while Volume 4 has some repeat shades.

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 (US $80 / CAD $95) palette is housed in a beautiful limited edition metallic pink compact. The palette has 4 of their bestselling shades and 2 powders that are exclusive to the palette.

The colors include:

  • Dim Light (finishing powder): Soft, peachy beige with a translucent semi-matte finish
  • Diffused Light (finishing powder): Pale, yellow beige with a translucent matte finish
  • Euphoric Strobe Light: (strobe powder): with a semi-sheer shimmer finish
  • Filtered Bronze Light (bronzer): Golden brown with a semi-opaque shimmer finish
  • Luminous Glow (blush): Rosy peach with a semi-sheer shimmer finish
  • Euphoric Fusion (strobe blush): Soft plum with a semi-sheer shimmer finishHOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4

The palette performs really well. I wished all the shades were new like the Unlocked palette but this is such a beautiful palette, I can’t complain. I’m really happy with the palette and it works great for my olive skintone and has a beautiful and smooth application. The quality and texture is very similar with their other palettes as well as their individual products.

The powders are buildable and look very natural on the skin and gives a beautiful glow, that’s never powedery. They do not emphasize pores and the lasting power is excellent. You can brighten, contour, highlight, and finish with this palette. These palettes are great for travel as you get everything you need in one compact when it comes to face powders.

HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4

In comparison; the Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette features deeper shades so it will be suited for a wider range of skin tones, while the Ambient Lighting Edit Vol 4 Palette has lighter shades so it is more suited for lighter/light-medium skin tones. I would also say, if you already have the previous palettes, you most likely do not need this and the Unlocked Palette would be a better choice since it has all new shades. If I had to choose one, I prefer the Unlocked Palette just because of the shade selection and they’re just a better fit for my medium olive skintone. Plus the blush Nude Glow is probably the most beautiful blush ever and reminds me of my favorite MAC Warm Soul.

I must say though that my all-time favorite face powder (Dim Light) is in this palette, the Ambient Lighting Edit Vol 4 palette.HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT VOLUME 4

To close, if you’ve ever wanted to try Hourglass or wanted to just simply splurge on an Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder, then this palette is a great choice. Despite the steep price, the quality is excellent! Plus, it will probably come down to shade preference as well in determining whether you go with this palette or the Unlocked Palette as both palettes are beautiful.

I bought mine from Beautylish during the VIB Sale as it was sold out on Sephora immediately; however, it is now back in stock on the Canadian Sephora website.

Anyone picked up any of the Hourglass holiday palettes this year?
