I finally picked up a few pieces from the Hourglass Ghost Holiday Collection. Every year Hourglass comes out with the most stunning collections. This year’s collections come with lip sets, the Scattered Light eyeshadows Trio and two new Ambient Lighting Palettes; one is a first ever four pan blush palette. Today my review will be focus on the following below which is what I picked up from the collection during the Sephora VIB Sale:
Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad (US $58 / CAD $75)
Scattered Light Glitter EyeShadow Collection (US $46 / CAD $60)
I opted for the Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad instead of the Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Edit Palette since it has three repromoted shades that I already have in my collection. The quad made a lot better sense and something I know I’ll get a lot of use out of since Hourglass makes some of my favorite blushes.
The Ghost Holiday Collection is packaged in minimalistic silver and clear packaging.
The Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad is different from the other Hourglass palettes. It is smaller and slightly compact. It is very pretty but pricey. The shades in the palette are:
- Blush, Surreal Effect (new): medium pink with shimmer
- Strobe Blush, Brilliant Nude: light-medium champagne peach with some tan bronze shimmer
- Strobe Blush, Lucid Glow (new): peachy coral swirled with a soft gold luminous finish
- Blush, Infinite Flush (new): warm soft pinky rosy shade with some mauve swirled and a luminous finish
The formula of all of the blushes are soft with buildable pigmentation. They give a beautiful natural luminous flush to the skin just like their past formulas. They performed very well and were very blendable. The shade range was pretty good although I thought one of the shades could be on the deeper side to suite a wider range of skintones.
The Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow Trio comes with three shades. Two of them are part of the permanent line and one is a brand-new shade. The size of the eyeshadows is smaller compared to the singles (smaller at 0.07 oz each versus the 0.12 oz of the full size). I don’t mind these minis as there is so much product in there to use for a long time. I think this Trio is a nice way to try three shades at a more affordable price. The Trio shades are:
- Foil: gold with a glitter finish
- Molten (new): plum violet with a glitter finish
- Ray: deep champagne with a glitter finish
These really are a nice choice of three shades. I really love the Scattered Light. These are some of my favorite shimmery shadows. They are gorgeous, wearable colors that add subtle drama without trying too hard. I use either my finger tip to pat down on my lid for a pop or swipe it on with a concealer brush if I want more color. They give a beautiful sparkle on the lids without looking chunky and work well on hooded eyes.
