NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

NARS Sheer Glow FoundationWith all the new foundation launches this Spring, I thought I would focus today’s post on one of the foundations in my collection, NARS Sheer Glow, which is a fairly new foundation in my stash and a cult classic?! I also have a few more reviews coming up on some of the newer foundations that were recently launched, so stay tuned!

I purchased the shade Barcelona (medium with olive undertones), for my medium/olive complexion (MAC NC 40 skin tone) and it is the perfect match. The foundation comes in a thick glass bottle (no pump, which is a big minus considering the price point) with a matte black screw cap. It definitely can get messy if you’re not careful.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (CAD $57.00 / US $45.00) is said to be a glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage. It also says the weightless formula hydrates the skin while complexion brightening properties improve skin brightness, radiance, and texture, leaving skin with a luminous, sensual glow and is recommended for normal, normal-to-dry, dry, and very dry skin types.

This is a light coverage foundation which can be built to a medium coverage but not pass that. For a sheer look, try using a beauty blender or the real techniques sponge. It has a silky texture and a satin velvety-matte finish that looks natural, despite being called ‘Sheer Glow’. The name of the foundation would suggest that it has quite a glowing and dewy finish, but I did not find it at all particular dewy. It really makes my skin look flawless and adds a very natural healthy glow. The consistency is not overly thick but not so thin either. It evens out my skin tone beautifully and does a good job of covering my redness and acne pigmentation without looking cakey or heavy and it doesn’t break me out. However, it does cling to dry patches such as my nose and between my eyebrows, which it where I normally tend to get extremely dry. As with any foundation, it works best on a healthy canvas. So I suggest exfoliating prior. It photographs well as this foundation does not contain SPF in its formulation. This wore really well for about six hours and then by the eight hour mark, I can see that it starts to separate in my T-zone area where I am prone to get shiny. It is not too heavy for everyday wear. If you’re oily or combination, you will have to set with a powder. All in all, it is a very nice foundation that I like a lot. This is quite similar to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation.

Let me know, are you a fan of NARS Sheer Glow?

xx
