August 2016 Beauty Favorites

So, it’s time to share my latest beauty obsessions and discoveries from the past month. I can’t believe its September already! In yesterday’s post, I mentioned that my little ones started the new school year and I still can’t believe that my 4 year old in now in JK and my 7.5 year old is in Grade 3! Where the heck has the time gone?!! I’m not sure where the summer went either but it was a great one. I absolutely love the heat and I wish it could stay hot all year round in Canada but I do like the Fall in terms of fashion and makeup but if I could have it hot every single day of my life, I would be happy.

This month, I have a few things to sharing as I’m actually incorporating some favorites from July as well. July/August certainly proved to be a month filled with glow-inducing, dewy products as well as a very busy schedule which did not include much blogging at all because of my recent move. Ok, now on to my beauty favorites:

August 2016 Beauty Favorites0

Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped: This has been in heavy rotation the past month or more. This highlighter palette is so gorgeous and if you love a good shimmer like I do, then you will enjoy these powders. They have a silky smooth texture with a blendable finish and I love using them on my eyes and cheeks. Review + swatches here.

NARS Hardwired Eyeshadow in Earthshine: On days when I don’t have time to blend out shadows, I’ve been turning to this single shade. It’s just so easy to throw on all over the lid and blend out for a quick, but beautiful eye look. Earthshine is a gorgeous iridescent pink lilac shade with warm undertones. Review + swatches here.

Marc Jacobs UnderCover Coconut Face Primer: This primer is probably my favorite primer so far. I love how hydrating and smoothing it is on my skin. It dries down beautifully and gives the skin a really nice glow. It also slightly blurs out your skin so it looks smoother, without feeling oily or greasy. Review + swatches here.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter: Ok, another primer that I love is this one from Becca. It has a very soft luminous finish with a lightweight texture. This formula is not as hydrating as the Marc Jacobs primer, but it is not at all drying either. This did not emphasize any of my problematic dry patches around my nose/chin and it smooths the skin nicely creating a nice canvas for foundation. Review + swatches here.

Diorblush Light and Contour Stick: These are natural looking contour creams that are very easy to use and won’t give you a harsh look. The texture is very creamy but not too dewy. Review + swatches here.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette: This is another gorgeous palette and all the colors in this palette are extremely pigmented and easy to blend. There are three blushes and two highlighters – what I do is I use the shades individually or mix together to create different looks. Perfect for summer and even the cooler months ahead. Review + swatches here.

YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara ‘Black’*: The packaging on this is gorgeous and it might be the fanciest mascara I have in my stash. But the product inside is what counts. The formula is a “wet look” which I prefer personally so if you like dry mascara, then take note that this formula may not be for you. I love this because it gives volume, thickens and lengthens my lashes. It also looks very dark on my lashes. Review + swatches here.

As a foundation junkie, I just couldn’t pick one but I have a whooping three that has been on rotation the last couple months. I’ll start with the newest in my collection which is the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, a stick foundation with medium to full coverage with a natural finish. It’s easy to blend and doesn’t look cakey. The next is the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation, which I will have a review on soon but I will say that this is an amazing foundation that has a smooth lightweight coverage and blurs imperfections. Finally, one that I haven’t used much of lately is the Natasha Denona Face Glow Foundation SPF15. I started using this again later on in the summer and even took it on my recent vacation and I forgot how fantastic it is. The finish is sheer to medium and dewy. It does a good job of evening out the skin but not completely so you need to also conceal with this. I love wearing this mostly at nights as it gives that fresh and glowy look that I really like. Review + swatches here and here.

Two lippes that I have been reaching for are the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken. It’s that perfect mauve/nude shade and feels incredibly comfortable. Then there’s BURBERRY Lip Velvet Lipstick* in Fuchsia Pink. The name described the color perfectly. It has a velvet matte finish that isn’t drying and it layers beautifully.

And that basically sums up my favorites for the past two months. What have you been loving this month? Are you going crazy over all the Fall collections as we transition into the cooler weather? Let me know below! 🙂

xo ❤
