BURBERRY BEAUTY LIQUID LIP VELVET

BURBERRY BEAUTY LIQUID LIP VELVET

BURBERRY recently launched a new lip formula called the Liquid Lip Velvet with a total of 14 gorgeous shades. It’s a new statement making matte cream lip colour which combines rich pigment with a comforting texture. It claims to glide on the lips smoothly to create a bold velvet finish that lasts for up to 8 hours. I absolutely love the frosted packaging with Burberry’s signature plaid cover and a doe foot applicator.

I was sent two shades and I was excited to try these as I’m a fan of their Lip Velvet Lipsticks and Kisses Lipstick.

Dark Rosewood No. 17 is a brownish rose plum

Primrose No. 21 is a bright cool tone pink

The consistency is a velvet matte cream, mousse-like whipped texture, and felt creamy and lightweight on the lips. They had full coverage and spread easily and evenly across the lips without becoming patchy or uneven. In terms of consistency, I find that they are not as liquid-y as Kat Von D or Anastasia liquid lipstick formula and not as long-lasting for example. The formula feels just like velvet and it was comfortable to wear. Because the formula doesn’t dry down completely, there will be transfer and also for that reason, it doesn’t dry out my lips as quickly as some other liquid lipsticks. I guess the more velvety texture helps to keep the lips a little softer and more hydrated for a little longer so it doesn’t make the lips look dry or flaky. Also, it wasn’t streaky and I think because it doesn’t totally dry down matte (which I love btw), they don’t cracked like some liquid lipsticks. These lasted for about six hours on me and yes, you do need to touch up a little after eating.

Of the two shades, Dark Rose was more wearable on me and I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately. Really love the way it looks against my olive complexion. Now, you all know I don’t usually gravitate towards pinks or bright cool toned-pinks lip color because they aren’t the most complementary shades against my medium olive skin but I’ve been trying to make an effort when it comes to being adventurous with my lip colour. With Primrose, it was a little too pink and a little too cool for my liking but I can still make it work. I also like paring it with a warm nude lip liner so it doesn’t come across as cool on me and it works out great for me that way. That being said, these are beautiful liquid lipsticks and the formula is really nice, not sticky at all. These would be great for someone who likes a velvet formula without the desire of it lasting all day long or drying out the lips.
